Artificial legs for patients from Balochistan

From Hub, just across the provincial line, to Quetta and the Makran coast, families from Balochistan come to our Karachi clinic for their legs. We plan the visits around long journeys so most legs can be fitted in one stay.

In short

How patients from Balochistan get a leg from us

The short answer

Every patient visit takes place at our Karachi clinic on Main University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Hub is close enough for day visits. Families from Quetta, Khuzdar, Turbat and Gwadar usually stay in Karachi for the visits.

Call or WhatsApp first with the level, the surgery date and a photo of the stump, and we will tell you how many days to plan.

Getting to Karachi from Balochistan

Hub and Lasbela. Hub sits just across the provincial line from Karachi, and families travel for the day.

Quetta and Khuzdar. The N-25 highway runs from Quetta through Khuzdar to Karachi. It is a long drive, so most families break the journey and stay in Karachi for the visits. Flights also connect Quetta with Karachi.

Makran. From Gwadar and Turbat, families usually travel along the coastal highway, and flights operate to Karachi, though schedules vary.

One planned stay

For long journeys, we fit as much as we safely can into one stay: assessment and casting first, the test socket a few days later, then fitting and training. If a second visit is needed for adjustments, we try to make it short, and many questions can be answered by WhatsApp photo between visits.

Looking after the leg far from the clinic

Patients who live far away gain most from simple, tough parts that are easy to repair, and from knowing how to care for the leg. We teach every patient to check the skin, wash the liner, keep dust out of locks and valves, and send us a photo or video if something changes.

Planning the trip

How we plan the visits

Five steps, arranged around your travel dates.

  1. Call or WhatsApp

Tell us the level, the surgery date and your city, and send a photo of the stump if you can.

  2. We plan the dates

We suggest how many days to plan and line the visits up close together.

  3. Assessment and casting

Usually on the first days of the stay, at the Karachi clinic.

  4. Test socket and fitting

The leg is fitted and aligned, then walking training begins.

  5. Home, and follow-up

Questions and photos on WhatsApp; a short return visit if the fit needs adjusting.

It is a long drive on the N-25 through Khuzdar, usually most of a day. Many families break the journey or fly, then stay in Karachi for the visits.

We live in Hub. Can we come for the day?

Yes. Hub is just across the provincial line from Karachi, and day visits work well.

Which parts are best if we live far away?

Tough, simple parts that are easy to repair, plus a good socket. We will suggest a build that suits your journey and how you walk.
