Getting to Karachi from Quetta
By road, the N-25 runs south through Kalat and Khuzdar to Karachi. It is a long day, so many families break the journey, and a fresh stump needs rest stops. By air, flights connect Quetta with Karachi, which is much easier for patients who cannot sit for long.
Cold winters and the stump
Quetta winters are cold, and stumps often shrink slightly in the cold and feel looser in the socket. Circulation is slower, and skin gets dry. Keep the stump warm, add a sock layer when the leg feels loose, moisturise the skin at night (never just before putting the liner on), and send us a photo if the fit changes a lot.
One planned stay
Families from Quetta often arrive the evening before the first appointment. The first days cover the free assessment and the cast; the clear test socket follows a few days later; and the last days are for the final fitting and practice on the clinic bars and stairs. If the stump is still settling, a temporary leg lets you go home walking and come back for the final socket.
Follow-up from Quetta
Most follow-up questions can be answered from photos and short videos on WhatsApp. If an adjustment needs a visit, we plan it to be short, and many families combine it with other trips to Karachi.
