What does an artificial leg cost at your clinic in 2026?
At our Karachi clinic in 2026, below knee legs start from Rs 80,000 and above knee legs from Rs 150,000. Imported parts raise the price, up to Rs 900,000 or more below the knee and well past Rs 2,500,000 above it with a microprocessor knee.
Which steps does the price cover?
The free assessment, casting, a test socket, the final leg, alignment and walking training, plus follow-up checks as the stump settles.
Is there help with the cost?
Charitable rehabilitation centres and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal help some patients, and some employers contribute after a workplace accident. Our help-with-paying guide explains the options honestly.
Can I get the price in writing before work starts?
Yes, after the free assessment, itemised and in writing, and we can send it to family on WhatsApp.
How long after surgery is the stump usually ready?
Often six to eight weeks after surgery, once the wound has closed and the swelling has settled; after diabetic surgery it can take longer.
How many clinic visits should we plan for?
Usually three to five: assessment and casting, test socket, final fitting and training, and follow-ups.
What is a test socket?
A clear trial socket made before the final one, so we can see how the skin reacts under load and adjust the fit.
Will it hurt?
Some pressure and tiredness are normal at first. Sharp pain, lasting red marks or broken skin are not; call us and we will adjust the socket.
Can I pray normally with an artificial leg?
Many people pray standing with the leg on and use a chair for parts they cannot manage. Our namaz and wudu guide covers the practical side; ask a scholar for rulings.
Can I go back to work?
Most people do, many to the same job. Tell us what your work involves so we can plan the socket, foot and training for it.
How long does a leg last?
Sockets often need replacing within one to three years early on, liners about yearly, feet every three to five years.
Can I shower with my leg?
Not with an ordinary leg; water damages it. A waterproof leg is made for wudu, the shower and the beach.
We live outside Karachi. What is the easiest way to arrange the visits?
Send photos first, then plan one stay of one to two weeks; we line the visits up close together.
Can my family abroad stay involved?
Yes. They can join calls by phone or video, and we send the estimate and updates on WhatsApp.
Is it fine to take a flight while wearing the leg?
Yes. Wear it or carry it in the cabin, tell security staff before screening, and ask the airline for assistance if you need it.
Where exactly do I go for my visits?
Office No. 27, Main University Road, Block 13-A, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. Visits are by appointment.
Will the same clinician see me at every visit?
Yes. Our clinician, Ummad Shafique Mughal, Consultant Orthotist and Prosthetist, sees you at every stage.
Do you only fit one brand of parts?
No. We import and fit parts from many makers and are independent of all of them.
Are your phones really answered at night?
Yes. Phone and WhatsApp are answered 24 hours a day, every day.
