What a prosthetist does
A prosthetist assesses the stump and the whole person, decides with the patient which kind of leg will serve them, casts and shapes the socket, chooses and aligns the knee and foot, and teaches the patient to walk on the leg. It is a clinical and a craft role at once: the socket is shaped by hand, and the alignment is judged by watching the patient walk.

He trained in prosthetic and orthotic sciences at PIPOS, the Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences, completing a BS (Hons) degree awarded through Khyber Medical University. That training covers anatomy, biomechanics, socket design, materials and the fitting of limbs and braces.

- He explains every option and price in plain Urdu or English.
- He involves family members, at the clinic or by phone from abroad.
